eating disorder and doing fertility treatments

I'm 39 years old and married for the second time. My husband and I don't have children together, but we have 6 between us both. We have started fertility treatments and have done 2 inseminations and 1 IVF so far.

PROBLEM.... my eating disorder is back full blown and I am having an egg retrieval in less than 2 weeks. I have had an eating disorder for 24 years of my life EXCEPT when I was pregnant with my two sons. But this time I'm not so lucky ... I just know it......can anyone help me???

Relate to both - but seperately

I can relate to both eating disorder and fertility treatments, but not the 2 together. We are just having our 2nd round of hcg injection and insemination for trying for our third child.

I had an eating disorder through my teens which was really hard and I am sure changes me as a person too.

Eating disorders definitely change us as people. Certainly the experience gives you a way to relate to people going through the same thing that you may not have been able to do before.

And what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?

i got a baby with fertility and an eating disorder

i know what your going through. i had a baby a litle younger than you but i had a eating disorder.

my husband was tested and they said his sperm was fine. we kept trying and nothing worked. so i had the eggs retrieved and they were implaneted.

it worked for me. it can work for you to. just hang in ther.

Hi Amy,

Thank you so much for posting your story. I hope your egg retrieval and insemination (or whatever it is they call it ... sorry, I don't have experience with this) ends up producing a baby for you.

But more than anything, whether this latest egg retrieval produces a baby or not for you and your husband, I know it can help you on your road to recovery. Hang in there. You can always contact me offline and we can figure out how to get you the help you need.
