The following recommendations for eating disorder books are based on books I have read specifically and recommend for eating disorder help, books authors have sent to me to review or books my clients have found helpful in dealing with their anorexia symptoms, bulimia signs and other eating disorders symptoms.
Some of the books I review are specific to eating disorders. But others may be related to overcoming low self esteem and self esteem issues in general, they may be related to loving and accepting our beautiful female bodies no matter what shape and size we may be. Others may be related to trauma and dealing with abuse. Still others will be related to dealing with the psychological effects of eating disorders.
Some people may find the books I recommend to be "triggering." My position on dealing with triggers is every single day, people who have eating disorders and are trying to recover from eating disorders have to deal with triggers. Seeing ads on tv can be triggers. Seeing people of a certain body shape can be a trigger. Having to face mealtime and eating with others can be a trigger. Every single day we have to face triggers. Reading books related to eating disorders is no different. There may be triggers. But the hope is we learn how to manage those triggers and deal with them whether we are reading a book or just trying to live our everyday lives.
